Offered in partnership with HVAC Reducation, these North American Technician Excellence (NATE) recognized training courses are perfect for your busy schedule. Courses are mentor-led. This means you can study at your own pace and at any time of the day or night. Spend as much time as needed on a certain page or subject. If you have any questions for the instructor, you can send an e-mail and you will have an answer within 24 hours. Courses contain 6 modules that cover specific HVACR concepts by incorporating a presentation that utilizes some or all of the following: text reading assignments, web site tours, applied exercises, online quizzes, video clips, animations, images, handouts and module final exams. All courses are 18 NATE CEUs.

Our comprehensive online training program is thorough and accurate in content, diagrams and testing. It is also easy to use and understand, even if you're not a computer geek. Tutorials and detailed instruction will guide you along and help is only a click away if there are questions.

Here's a sample of how it works:

Step 1: Pre-certification Assessment (PCA) (your current HVAC/IQ) - Through a series of exams, HVAC/R technical knowledge is assessed with a focus on NATE certification or similar industry certifications, assessing level of professionalism & technical competence. The pre-certification (PCA) is selected by the NATE certification or topic for which the individual is preparing.
Available Assessments include:
Core, Air Conditioning, Heat Pump, Gas, Oil, Air Distribution, Hydronics-Gas & Hydronics-Oil, all Service & Installation Level.

Step 2: Develop A Training Path (where you stand and where you go from there) - After completing and submitting a PCA Assessment, a printable performance report is prepared, stating strengths and weaknesses and recommending a specific course of action to follow (online courses to take, materials to read, etc.) or indicate preparedness for the certification exam.

Step 3: In-Depth Online Training (take specified courses) - Courses can be taken in two ways: mentored or collaborative. This means an individual can be assigned a mentor who will work one-on-one with them as a learning coach OR an individual can work in a "group" setting, whereby an instructor provides weekly assignments and online group discussions to a "virtual group". Courses are broken down into easy-to-follow modules and instructor assistance is available by email when needed. All courses are Recognized by NATE CEU for recertification.

Step 4: Certifications (where your hard work pay$ off) - Successful course completion provides an excellent value to determine if you are ready to take your NATE or industry certification or apply for recertification. Also available and recommended are online NATE Prep Courses for brushing-up before taking exams. Prep courses can be taken whenever and as often as needed for a period of 30 days.

101 HVAC/R Fundamentals

This course is designed to explore the common aspects of HVAC/R technology. Discussion will focus on such topics as heat transfer methods, basic terminology and definitions, and applied physics for HVAC/R systems. Six modules cover: Introduction to the Industry, HVAC/R Measurements, Heat Energy, Pressure, Gas Works and Air Works.

102 HVAC/R Safety

Covers the basic safety considerations of the HVAC/R workplace. Presentations and coursework are in six modules that cover: Hazard communication (labels and MSDS), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Personal Safety in Confined Space and Ladders, Electrical Lockout/Tagout, Fire Extinguishers and Compressed Gas Safety, Back Protection and HVAC/R Hazardous Materials

111 HVAC/R Electrical DC Theory Plus

Basic electrical theory such as Ohms Law, circuit schematic symbols, circuit characteristics, will be discussed as it specifically applies to DC & AC circuits in the HVAC/R industry. 112 HVAC/R Electrical AC Theory Plus

A continuation of the Electrical 111 course, concepts presented and discussed are oriented towards alternating current production and application, specifically to devices utilized in HVAC/R systems. 113 HVAC/R Electrical Common Components

This course covers common control components found in HVAC/R systems. A logical continuation of the 112 course. Presentations and examples are given for specific devices and their electrical sequence of operation in normal HVAC/R applications. This course is dedicated to common single- phase and small three-phase electric motors. Presentations focus on basic motor theory, common types of motors, starting components and protection devices. This course is the introduction to HVAC comfort systems. Topics covered include human comfort, psychrometrics, and an introduction to basic air distribution systems, airflow measurement methods and calculations. This course is a continuation of HVAC/R Systems 121. The presentations and course- work are designed to develop an ability to perform residential / light commercial heat-loss calculations (for heating systems) and size heating duct systems. This course is designed to introduce the concept of combustion in basic terms. The focus will be on the current direct-vent systems and the traditional high-pressure gun burner. This course covers combustion basics for natural gas and propane fuels as found in residential and light commercial applications. Presentations cover the common types of gas heating equipment. 141 HVAC/R Refrigeration I

This course will serve as an introduction to the mechanical compression refrigeration cycle and the necessary components. Students will be introduced to the common components, and terms and definitions of the cycle. HVAC/R Fundamentals is recommended prior to taking this course. Six modules include: Basic refrigeration cycle physics, Compression and compressors, Condensation and condensers, Expansion and metering devices, Evaporation and evaporators, The system makes a cycle.

151 HVAC/R Controls I

This course is not so "fundamental" but is where you start when just dealing with controls. A good understanding of common HVAC systems is a prerequisite of this course. Six modules include: The Building and HVAC Systems, Air Circulation and Air Quality, Control System Characteristics, Process Characteristics and Control Systems, Control System Components, Control System Categories.

161 HVAC/R Boilers I

This course is designed to introduce the concepts and terminology of heating and power boilers. The main focus of the course will be on commercial and industrial boilers. Topics include: Boiler Fundamentals, Boiler Types, Steam and Hydronic Boilers, Fuels and Burner Types, Valve Identification, Safety and Relief Valves, Water Level Controllers, Boiler Accidents.

171 HVAC/R Boilers Low Pressure License Prep

This course is designed to introduce the concepts and terminology of heating and power boilers. The main focus of the course will be on commercial and industrial boilers. The content covers the required knowledge for proper and safe low pressure boiler system operations. This course the initial course on hydronic heating systems. This course begins a series of courses that address hot water heating systems. This course is NATE recognized for 18 hours of continuing education units (CEU's) applicable to NATE recertification. Module topics covered:

Pre-certification Assessments (PCA)
This series of exams is designed to assess general and specific HVAC technical knowledge. The focus of this program is NATE certification or similar HVAC industry certifications, which establish an individual's level of professionalism and technical competence. Exam content is randomly selected from a pool of content categories and then compiled as a total exam. The weighting of the content category depends on what exam is being taken.
