Focus on Energy – Upcoming Changes to Business Programs

On April 1, 2012, Focus on Energy rolled out three new program areas to business customers:
- Business Incentive Program
- Large Energy Users Program
- Chain Stores and Franchises Program
Focus on Energy’s new program offerings promote innovative program delivery while increasing program savings and cost-effectiveness. In general, changes to offerings and incentive levels will be minimal. The table below provides a high level overview of anticipated changes available to all business customers.

In November 2011 Focus on Energy released a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) for business programs and select residential programs. Based on the responses that were received in January 2012, Focus on Energy is expecting to release new programs for business customers in the spring months. These new program offerings will promote innovation in program delivery while increasing energy savings and cost-effectiveness.
- Based on the responses to the RFP that were received, Focus on Energy is expecting to release programs in the following areas:

Commercial retail outlets with:
- Five or more stores in the state of Wisconsin, and
- Shared brand and central management

| Large Energy Users |
Customers with an average monthly energy demand of at least:
- 1,000 kW of electricity, or
- 10,000 decatherms of natural gas
and in any month have been billed at least $60,000 for electricity, natural gas, or both for all the customers’ facilities within a participating utility’s service territory. |
| Small Energy Users |
Customers with an average monthly energy demand of 100 kW or less. |
| Retro-Commissioning |
Customers interested in building retro-commissioning services. |
| New Construction (Non-Residential) |
Customers with new or substantially renovated non-residential buildings that will achieve savings beyond what is required in current building codes. |
| Business Incentive |
Customers in the following sectors which may not be included in other programs.
- Agricultural
- Commercial
- Education
- Industrial (small to medium)
- Local and non-local government

Further details will be determined as the evaluation process progresses and program design is finalized; continue to check back for updates. Program names may change as the new offerings are developed.
Deadlines Approaching
Pre-approved custom projects, and prescriptive projects over $25,000 that have already received pre-approval, will continue to be supported until project completion. Other prescriptive projects must be fully implemented with complete paperwork submitted by
March 31, 2012. Late applications will not be accepted.
New Program Applications
New program applications will become available to the public in the spring. In the meantime, customers should continue to work with their current point of contact and use applications available on the
Business tab. These applications are valid until the stated date in the application, in most instances, March 31, 2012.
