Renewable Energy Incentives for Homes and Businesses

Focus on Energy is currently developing incentives to help Wisconsin utility customers take advantage of renewable energy technologies. More information about Focus on Energy’s renewable energy offerings will be available in the coming months.

Before considering a renewable energy system it is important to first maximize the energy efficiency of a home or business. When overall energy use is reduced as a result of energy efficiency improvements, a smaller, less costly renewable energy system can be used to meet remaining energy needs.

Focus on Energy can help to maximize the energy efficiency of a home or business. Visit Focus on Energy’s Residential and Business pages for more information about ways you can save energy and money in your home or business.

Renewable Energy Incentives
In November 2011 the Wisconsin Public Service Commission approved a set of criteria that will be used to guide future inclusion of renewable energy technologies into Focus on Energy.

Per the Commission’s order, Focus on Energy is currently screening individual renewable energy technologies to determine which technologies will be included in the program offerings and will be eligible to receive a Focus on Energy incentive. This process is expected to conclude in the spring of 2012.

Ultimately the Public Service Commission will determine what renewable energy incentives will be included in the portfolio.

Renewable Energy Information for Businesses
Applications for business program renewable projects expired on June 30, 2011. Focus on Energy is determining which renewable energy measures will help businesses save energy and money in a cost-effective fashion. Renewable energy incentives will become available in spring 2012 after a detailed analysis has been completed.

For more information, please see Frequently Asked Questions about the temporary suspension of Renewable Energy Projects for Business.

Renewable Energy Information for Homes
Incentives for residential renewable energy projects are currently being developed. It is anticipated that these incentives will be available to eligible customers in spring of 2012.

Prescriptive incentives will be honored for all single family residential projects installed by December 31, 2011 provided all required paperwork is submitted within 30 days of project completion (no later than January 30, 2012).
