Water Heaters


Focus on Energy offers Cash-Back Rewards to Wisconsin customers of participating utilities. Below is a complete listing of Rewards that are available through Focus on Energy for residential customers. Eligibility for Focus rewards depends on your electric and gas utility providers. Use the Find it with Focus tool to see if you qualify.

NOTE: With the exception of electric water heaters and indirect water heaters, a Focus on Energy Cash-Back Reward is only available for pre-qualified equipment. See the pre-qualified equipment lists below.

TANK-TYPE WATER HEATER - Natural Gas, EF .64 or greater
Reward Amount: $50

This Cash-Back Reward is only available for models on the Pre-Qualified Equipment List.  A qualifying tank-type, natural gas water heater must have the following attributes:
  • Energy factor (EF) of 0.64 or greater.
  • Power-vented.
  • Whole-house unit used for domestic water heating.
  • Use natural gas that is purchased from a participating natural gas utility.

TANKLESS WATER HEATER - Natural Gas, EF .82 or greater
Reward Amount: $100

This Cash-Back Reward is only available for models on the Pre-Qualified Equipment List. A qualifying tankless, natural gas water heater must have the following attributes:
  • Energy factor (EF) of 0.82 or greater.
  • Power-vented.
  • ENERGY STAR® qualified.
  • Whole-house unit used for domestic water heating.
  • Use natural gas that is purchased from a participating natural gas utility.


CONDENSING WATER HEATER - Natural Gas
Reward Amount: $150

This Cash-Back Reward is only available for models on the Pre-Qualified Equipment List. A qualifying natural gas water heater must have the following attributes:
  • Condensing unit with a thermal efficiency of 90% or greater.
  • Power-vented.
  • Whole-house unit used for domestic water heating.
  • Use natural gas that is purchased from a participating natural gas utility.


INDIRECT WATER HEATER - Natural Gas
Reward Amount: $200

A qualifying indirect water heater must have the following attributes:
  • Be installed with a Focus on Energy qualified boiler.
  • Whole-house unit used for domestic water heating.
  • Use natural gas that is purchased from a participating natural gas utility.


ELECTRIC WATER HEATER
Reward Amount: $50
Natural gas can not be available in the area to be eligible for this Reward.

A qualifying water heater must have the following attributes:
  • Energy factor (EF) of 0.93 or greater.
  • Natural gas cannot be available in area.
  • Whole-house unit used for domestic hot-water.
  • Tankless unit that is not eligible.
  • Use electricity purchased from a participating electric utility.


WATER HEATER FUEL CONVERSION
Reward Amount: $250

This Reward is available to customers who convert from an electric water heater to a qualified natural gas, LP, or oil water heater. Documentation of fuel conversion is required. Reward is available only if installing equipment that meets power-vent and efficiency requirements listed above.

Customer must purchase electricity from a participating electric utility.
