The key is to establish a program that automatically reduces heating and cooling in your home when you don't need as much.

If you've already set back the temperature on your thermostat, you can gain additional savings by leaving the fan switch on your thermostat set to "auto." Setting the fan to "on" will cause it to run all the time, whether or not heating or cooling is needed. Those extra hours of operation add unnecessary costs to your annual electric bill.
