ENERGY STAR® Qualified Electronics

Watch the savings grow.
It pays to look for the ENERGY STAR®.

When you see the ENERGY STAR label on home electronics equipment, you're looking at the most energy efficient product of its kind. It has all the same features as a standard model, but costs less to use because it uses less energy.

You'll save money every day that you use it. Plus, you get the added benefit of knowing you're helping preserve Wisconsin's environment. Less energy used means fewer negative impacts on our air, water and land.

Standby to savings.
vcrIt may be hard to believe, but over 75 percent of the electricity used by home electronic equipment is consumed when the products are turned off. That's because they're not really "off" - they're on standby mode, using electricity to power features like clocks, remote controls and channel/station memory. Turning your TV, stereo, computer and other electronics off when you're not using them is just the first step to saving energy. The next step is to upgrade to ENERGY STAR qualified models.

ENERGY STAR qualified home electronics products in the "off" position use up to 60 percent less energy than conventional equipment, without sacrificing any of those important features. You save money on your energy bills and prevent the pollution caused by energy waste. You can find the ENERGY STAR label on all types of electronics products:
  • TVs
  • VCRs/DVDs
  • Stereos
  • Set-top boxes (such as cable boxes, satellite receivers, Internet access devices and video game consoles)
  • Telephone products (such as cordless phones, answering machines and combination units)
  • Home office equipment (computer, monitor, printer and fax machine)
stereo
Give the gift of a cleaner environment.

You can feel good about gift giving this holiday season. By buying an ENERGY STAR qualified consumer electronics product, you are actually giving two gifts - one for your loved one and one for the environment.
