Focus on Energy offers cash-back rewards for qualifying high-efficiency water heaters that meet the eligibility requirements described below:
STORAGE WATER HEATER (tank-type) - Natural Gas, EF .67 or greater
Reward Amount: $50
- Point-of-use units are not eligible
This Cash-Back Reward is only available for models on the
Pre-Qualified Equipment List. A qualifying tank-type, natural gas water heater must have the following attributes:
- Energy factor (EF) of 0.67 or greater.
- Must be a tank-type, storage water heater.
- Use natural gas that is purchased from a participating natural gas utility.
The interior opening left by the removed water heater must be closed with a metal cap and sealed with caulk or mortar.
TANKLESS WATER HEATER - Natural Gas, EF .82 or greater
Reward Amount: $100
Point-of-use units are not eligible
This Cash-Back Reward is only available for models on the
Pre-Qualified Equipment List. A qualifying tankless, natural gas water heater must have the following attributes:
- Energy factor (EF) of 0.82 or greater
- Must be a tankless (instantaneous) water heater. Storage water heaters are not eligible for this reward.
- Whole-house unit used for domestic water heating
- Use natural gas that is purchased from a participating natural gas utility
The interior opening left by the removed water heater must be closed with a metal cap and sealed with caulk or mortar.
CONDENSING STORAGE WATER HEATER - Natural Gas, TE 90% or greater
Reward Amount: $100
- Point-of-use units are not eligible
This Cash-Back Reward is only available for models on the
Pre-Qualified Equipment List. A qualifying natural gas water heater must have the following attributes:
- Condensing unit with a thermal efficiency (TE) of 90% or greater
- Power-vented
- Whole-house unit used for domestic water heating
- Use natural gas that is purchased from a participating natural gas utility
The interior opening left by the removed water heater must be closed with a metal cap and sealed with caulk or mortar.
INDIRECT WATER HEATER FOR SPACE HEATING BOILER - Natural Gas
Reward Amount: $100
- Point-of-use units are not eligible
This Cash-Back Reward is only available for models on the
Pre-Qualified Equipment List. A qualifying indirect water heater must have the following attributes:
- Be installed at the same time as a 90% or 95% AFUE natural gas space heating boiler
- Be a natural gas water heater
- Whole-house unit used for domestic water heating.
The interior opening left by the removed water heater must be closed with a metal cap and sealed with caulk or mortar.
ELECTRIC WATER HEATER
Reward Amount: $25
Natural gas cannot be available in the area to be eligible for this Reward.
- Point-of-use units are not eligible
This Cash-Back Reward is only available for models on the
Pre-Qualified Equipment List. A qualifying water heater must have the following attributes:
- Energy factor (EF) of 0.93 or greater
- Natural gas cannot be available in area
- Whole-house unit used for domestic hot-water
- Must be a tank-type water heater. Electric tankless water heaters are not eligible
- Use electricity purchased from a participating electric utility
The interior opening left by the removed water heater must be closed with a metal cap and sealed with caulk or mortar.
If the model you plan to sell to a customer, or if you are the customer and the model you wish to purchase and have installed by a professional contractor is not on one of the pre-qualified lists, but meets the eligibility criteria, please pre-qualify the equipment by completing the
Equipment Qualification Form and email it to
residentialrewards@focusonenergy.com. Please include as much support documentation (technical specification sheets, manufacturer information sheets, etc.) as possible to ensure the equipment's qualification.
