American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

Focus on Energy created this page to help our market providers and other partners take full advantage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
Below are links to helpful websites as well as documents that summarize some Focus on Energy assumptions that can help communities with their Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) applications.
We'll update this regularly to keep you informed! Plus, if you want to receive email updates about ARRA, simply fill out the form on the right side of this page.

State Energy-Efficient Appliance Rebate Programs
The State of Wisconsin will receive an allocation of $5.4 million in funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for a state-run rebate program for consumer purchases of new ENERGY STAR qualified home appliances. Focus on Energy has been selected to administer this program in Wisconsin. The program plan was submitted to the Department of Energy on October 15, 2009 and is awaiting Department approval. Savings Assumptions for EECBG Projects
Focus on Energy has worked with its independent evaluation team to calculate standard savings assumptions for many energy efficient technologies. These " deemed savings" values enable us to be consistent in how we track savings and we encourage communities to use these values to track their own savings.
We are also providing a document that translates energy savings--kWh or therm savings--into pounds of carbon dioxide and other environmental metrics. This information will help Wisconsin communities complete EECBG applications. It will also help communities to communicate their accomplishments to their constituents.
We are also providing links to two spreadsheets that will help communities calculate the savings for window and insulation measures. (These calculators are a little more complicated because the savings depend on the number of windows, the size of the building, etc.)
These spreadsheets can help communities (as well as the market providers who work with them) to calculate the energy savings associated with specific projects (such as a lighting upgrade or a retrofit to a municipal facility). If your community needs information on a technology not included here, contact Focus on Energy at 800.762.7077 or focusinfo@focusonenergy.com , for more assistance.
