These incentives are offered from July 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010.

Apartment & Condo Efficiency Services helps owners make their buildings more profitable, comfortable, safe, durable and energy efficient. The program offers owners technical expertise as well as Cash-Back Rewards to improve the energy efficiency of their apartments and condominiums.

How Does it Work?
By working with a Focus on Energy energy advisor, apartment owner/operators and condominium owner associations can receive financial incentives for specific energy improvements.

What Cash-Back Rewards are Available?
There are a variety of Cash-Back Rewards available through Focus on Energy for apartment and condo projects in new or existing multi-family buildings with four or more units. Cash-Back Rewards are based on the estimated first-year energy savings that will be achieved by installing qualified energy efficient equipment. Your eligibility status will also be used in determining the specific measures that will be rewarded. Cash-Back Rewards do vary by service. Read on to learn more.

Existing Buildings Summary of Measures and Incentives
The Apartment & Condo Efficiency Services Program offers a free energy assessment by a Focus on Energy energy advisor. The advisor will work with you, the owner/manager of the multi-family building, to identify opportunities to reduce your energy usage by installing high-efficient technologies. The reward amount will depend on estimated savings of the approved measures you implement. A summary of available financial incentives is below:

HVAC and Appliances
Incentive form for non-custom HVAC equipment, appliances, controls and water heaters for existing multi-family housing. Additional incentives may be available. Contact an energy advisor before equipment is installed.
     Apartment & Condo Prescriptive Incentive Application

Boiler Tune-Up and Steam Trap Maintenance
Focus on Energy rewards ongoing natural gas burner boiler maintenance and assists in the replacement of steam traps to encourage continued attention to energy efficiency.
     Service Buy-Down Incentive Application
     Flue Gas Analyzer Protocol for Testing Tune & Clean

Common Area Lighting
Cash-Back Rewards from Focus on Energy continue to make energy efficient lighting truly affordable. Owners and landlords can receive these rewards when they purchase a variety of ENERGY STAR^® qualified and energy efficient lighting through participating partners.

Direct Install
The direct installation of lighting, low flow showerheads and aerators, is available at no charge.

New Construction

NOTE: Cash-Back Rewards are either prescriptive or custom.

Prescriptive Incentives: For efficiency measures that are one-for-one replacements and with set dollar amounts per unit. Prescriptive forms may be filled out by you or your contractor.

Custom Incentives: Specific to your building and its energy consumption. Installing multiple measures or highest efficiency equipment will earn greater rewards.

Renewable Energy
Focus on Energy encourages the owners of apartments and condos to do as much as they can in terms of energy efficiency, but also urges them to consider the benefits of renewable energy. Contact the Renewable Energy Program for more information and financial incentives available.

Eligibility
Eligibility is based on a customer's electric and gas utility providers. Also, you must be an owner, operator, and/or resident of buildings with 4 or more units. (Condo owners' associations are also eligible.)
