Focus on Energy offers financial incentives to help Wisconsin homes, farms and businesses take advantage of
clean, green, renewable energy. Below, you'll find planning incentives to help you pay for renewable energy
site evaluations, as well as installation incentives for systems small and large.
But before you jump in, remember - knowledge is power. Check the
helpful links at
the bottom of this page to learn more about renewable energy and how to get started.

Planning Incentives
The best way to find out whether your location can benefit from renewable energy is to schedule a site assessment
with a certified site assessor. The following incentives can help you significantly reduce the cost of site assessments
and other, more complex site evaluations when needed.
Site assessments provide
objective, third-party recommendations for your specific location. This incentive pays a portion of the site-assessment
cost. Focus recommends a site assessment prior to installing any solar energy system, and requires a site assessment
for all wind systems to be eligible for Focus wind installation incentives. Organizations interested in installing biomass
combustion or biogas systems should apply for a Pre-Feasibility Assessment or Feasibility Study Grant.
Biomass Pre-Feasibility Assessments are the quickest and easiest way for to find out whether your business, organization or institution can benefit from a biomass combustion system, and best of all they're FREE! Fill out the form and submit following the directions at the bottom of the form.
Feasibility Study Grants
provide financial support for site evaluations that go more in-depth than site assessments (which are the recommended
first step) to determine whether renewable energy systems are right for you. The grant is intended to increase the
ability of businesses and organizations to make informed decisions about large, often complex renewable energy systems
by understanding and solving technical uncertainties.
Development Grants
provide financial support for assessing the feasibility and development activities of large, customer-sited biogas
digesters and biomass combustion systems with capacities of greater than 500 kilowatts and/or production
more than 750,000 therms per year, and wind turbine projects of between 100 kilowatts and 15 megawatts. These
grants co-fund complex feasibility studies, environmental permitting, financing and other developmental activities.
Installation Incentives
To qualify for these incentives, eligible customers must submit a completed Cash-Back Reward or grant application
and receive Focus on Energy approval
before purchasing, ordering or installing any equipment or
services. You can
verify your eligibility here.
Cash-Back Rewards
These rewards provide financial support for installing small- to medium-sized renewable energy systems with a capacity
up to 50 kilowatts or 5,000 therms per year. Choose the application that matches your specific technology below.

Implementation Grants (for large systems)
These grants provide financial support for the installation of large renewable energy systems. Choose the application
appropriate for your technology below.
A Solar Hot Water Implementation Grant
provides financial support for the installation of a solar hot water system that will produce over 5,000 therms each year.
A Wind Electric Implementation Grant
provides financial support for the installation of a wind electric system 20 to 100 kilowatts.
A Biomass Combustion Implementation Grant
provides financial support for the installation of a commercially available biomass combustion system to produce
any of the following forms of energy: process heat, space heating, cooling and electricity. These grants are for
systems that generally cost $2 million or less.
A Biomass Combustion Implementation Grant for Schools and Units of Government
provides increased financial support for the installation of a commercially available biomass combustion system to produce any of the following forms of energy: process heat, space heating, cooling and electricity. These grants are for systems that generally cost $2 million or less that are owned by a School or Unit of Government.
An Industrial/Municipal Anaerobic Digester Implementation Grant
provides financial support for the installation of a commercially available anaerobic digester system at Wisconsin
industries, organizations and municipal wastewater-treatment plants to produce any of the following forms of energy:
electricity, thermal energy and biogas. These grants are for systems that generally cost $2 million or less.
A Farm Anaerobic Digester Implementation Grant
provides financial support for the installation of a commercially available anaerobic digester system at a Wisconsin
farm to produce any of the following forms of energy: electricity, thermal energy and biogas. These grants are for
systems that generally cost $2 million or less.
Incentives for Renewable Energy Businesses
Business and Marketing Grants
provide financial support to help organizations and/or businesses that offer renewable energy services develop
business plans and marketing materials.
The
Market Provider Program is an opportunity for
businesses active in Wisconsin's renewable energy market to partner with Focus on Energy to enhance their
reputations, boost sales and increase awareness of their services.
NABCEP Certification Scholarship
The Renewable Energy NABCEP Certification Scholarship Program supports Wisconsin solar installers in becoming nationally certified. The scholarship may pay a 50-percent reimbursement of the cost of the application fee and sitting for the certification exam (one time).
