Malteurop Wins Award for Efforts to Reduce Energy Waste
Milwaukee – A Milwaukee business that has made a commitment to saving energy was honored Tuesday afternoon when Malteurop received an Energy Efficiency Excellence Award.
“This year, I think we gave out 16 awards across the state to a variety of customers nominated by utilities or energy advisors. And this is the only company in Milwaukee that was nominated to receive an award,” said Jolene Sheil, Manager of Focus on Energy Portfolios at the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.
Malteurop was chosen because the company has been actively looking for ways to reduce energy waste in recent years. The business identified several areas for improvement after an energy audit of their facility conducted by We Energies and Focus on Energy.
Don Gall, the Energy Advisor who nominated the Malteurop, works with companies considered large energy users. He emphasized the importance of Malteurop’s nomination and qualifications for the award.
“It’s a very especial thing, it’s not lightly done. I only nominated one company, this company,” Gall said at the award presentation.
Malteurop has addressed optimization of their lighting, compressed air, dust collection, and chilled water systems. Recently, the company identified and started working with We Energies and Focus on Energy on four more projects.
Focus on Energy is working with utility companies across the state to present 16 Energy Efficiency Excellence Awards to outstanding businesses, schools and institutions.
A recent evaluation report found every $1 invested in Focus on Energy programs creates $5.93 in benefits for Wisconsin, including economic benefits, reduced energy costs, and reduced pollution.
